    The Center for Art & Archaeology of the American Institute of Indian Studies has developed an extensive archive of 125,000 black and white photographs and color slides relating to Indian art and archaeology. Several of these images are also available on-line on the web. The photographs contain images of buildings, objects, maps and plans relating to Indian monuments. These photographs are fully catalogued, mounted on card sheets, methodically arranged and available through open access to users in-house. Please note: transportation can be arranged from Delhi by contacting the Center in advance.

    Documentation of temple architecture and related sculpture, in particular, are exhaustive and make an invaluable research tool. The photographs are mostly of good quality. The bulk of the photographs are the result of the Center's documentation and it owns the copyright. Prints are available to scholars and other users of the facility for a nominal fee.
